CHICAGO has been rocked by yet another deadly weekend of violence after at least six people were shot dead.

There were a total of 23 shooting victims from Friday to Sunday evening, police in the Windy City have confirmed.

One 20-year-old man was shot dead in a kitchen on Sunday evening, ABC7 reports.

A second man was killed standing on a sidewalk that same night.

In one incident on Sunday a 12-year-old boy was hit by gunfire and rushed to hospital. He is expected to survive.

A 27-year-old woman was shot dead shortly after middy on Sunday.

The deadly weekend came just days after eight more people were shot dead in the city.

On Saturday two men, aged 64 and 26, were shot dead in the same incident.

Brandon Slater was killed moments after picking up his mom a cake for Mother's Day, his family told NBC Chicago.

His mom, Diane Archer, told the outlet: "We were just planning our Mother’s Day dinner that I was cooking for everybody like I always do, and I just left him.

"He was trying to do good. He had a son."

Archer said Brandon was her second son to die from gun violence.

The second man killed was identified as 64-year-old Larry Purnell. He had been mowing a lawn when he was hit, according to reports.

Two teens were injured in a separate shooting on Saturday.

And on Friday a man named as Michael Conrad, 37, was killed in a drive-by shooting.


A violent Mother's Day also saw the body of a 30-year-old father found in a lake on Sunday in Alabama.

Three more people were found dead after gunfire erupted outside a Party City in Albuquerque, KOB 4 reported.

There were also three separate shootings on Sunday in Philadelphia.

A man and a woman were killed while four others were injured in the separate shootings that occurred in a two-hour span, NBC10 reported.

Six more people were shot in Georgia during a single act of gun violence this Mother's Day.

Officials said three people are dead after they responded to calls that a person was shot, 11Alive reported.


At least two more people wounded after a shooting in the parking lot of a Target store in the state.

And the bodies of three children were discovered inside a home in Los Angeles on Mother's Day.

University of Illinois Brittany Kinlow, 23, was found dead last Monday, May 2 with a gunshot wound to her head, according to local reports.

Officials have ruled her death a homicide.

Cops found a second body in the same Belle Shore apartment building on Tuesday.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot said: "Particularly distressing is, again, the number of young people that seemingly are involved in acts of violence."
