It comes as the UK records a further 44,917 daily cases and 45 deaths on Monday. The Government is also urging people to get tested before they spend time in “crowded and enclosed spaces” or where “there will be a period of high risk that day”. This is the first time the official advice has been to get tested before heading to busy settings, previously being to get tested twice weekly or before visiting vulnerable people.

French PM tests positive for Covid
The French prime minister, Jean Castex has tested positive for coronavirus.
His office confirmed he would isolate for ten days but continue to work.
PM Castex “immediately carries out a PCR test” after finding out one of his daughters has tested positive for the virus.
The positive test came as he returned from Belgium to meet with his counterpart.
The 56-year-old has received two doses of a vaccine in the spring and has never tested positive before.
