An “armed and dangerous” 70-year-old man is being sought in connection to a double slaying at a northwest Tennessee lake, authorities said.

David Vowell, of Martin, is wanted as a person of interest in Monday’s double homicide at Reelfoot Lake in Obion County, where 26-year-old Chance Black and 25-year-old Zachery Grooms were killed, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced late Monday.

A spokeswoman for the agency declined to share additional details when contacted by The Post early Tuesday. She cited TBI’s release as the extent of what investigators are ready to publicly say about the slayings.

But District Attorney Tommy Thomas told WREG that Black and Grooms were shot at a blind at the 15,000-acre lake at Reelfoot Lake State Park that’s popular for hunting and fishing.

Black was the son of the Weakley County Sheriff Department’s chief deputy, Mark Black, Thomas told the station.

Residents in Obion County said investigators descended upon the “very quiet” community of Walnut Log Monday. One couple said they heard reports of someone being “upset” over duck hunting at the lake.

“A lot of hunters come in here and they enjoy the duck hunting and all, but to be upset over somebody shooting more ducks or whatever the case may have been, I don’t know,” David Gray told WPSD. “But it’s bad to hear that someone, especially young boys, being treated that way. It’s a shame that something like this would happen.”

TBI spokeswoman Keli McAlister declined to say whether Black and Grooms were hunting at the time of the shooting.

“We have not released any information beyond identifying the deceased individuals and our person of interest,” McAlister told The Post in an email.

Anyone with information on the fatal shootings near the north end of the lake is asked to contact TBI investigators at (800) TBI-FIND.
