Dangerous out-of-control cow ‘attacked and trampled’ OAP during runaway rampage

A frenzied cow on a public rampage after it escaped from a livestock market trampled an elderly grandad to death before running onto a railway line.

Much-loved Huw Evans was “attacked” by the animal in the centre of Carmarthenshire in south-west Wales.

The tragic 75-year-old was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff at around 10.15am on Saturday, November 19 but died from his injuries six days afterwards, reports Wales Online.

His heartbroken family gushed: “Huw was a loved dad, dadcu (grandad), brother, uncle, and friend to many.

“We would like to thank the community for their support and well wishes while Huw was in hospital and since his passing. We now know how much he will be missed.”

The cow, that escaped from the Whitland Mart livestock market, caused trains to be stopped during its chaotic charge.

Huw’s devastated family are now grieving in private with cops from Dyfed-Powys Police and the Health and Safety Executive watchdog investigating the freak incident.

A spokesperson for the force explained at the time: "The cow came across an elderly man in North Road where it attacked and trampled him, causing serious injury.

“The cow then went on the rail track in the area and trains had to be put on stop to mitigate the danger to them.

"Eventually it made its way to a field where every effort was made to safely contain it in consultation with the owner.

“Unfortunately all attempts failed and, due to the danger posed by the animal, it was humanely dispatched with the consent of the owner."
