Strong winds will blow along the foothills and on the plains into Saturday evening, and wind gusts in the Denver area will hit about 36 mph.
Strong northwesterly winds on Saturday will gust up to 75 mph in the foothills, with 55 mph gusts on the plains, according to the National Weather Service.
Skies over Denver will be partly sunny on Saturday, and the high temperature will be about 60 degrees, the weather service said.
Snow is expected Saturday in the high mountains, with scattered rain and snow showers in the foothills and high valleys. Isolated rain showers are in the forecast for the plains.
On Sunday, a weak upper-level weather system will bring more rain and snow showers to the higher terrain, with a chance of rain showers at lower elevations.
On Sunday in Denver there’s a 30% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. Skies will be partly sunny and the high temperature will be near 57 degrees. Overnight thunder is possible, with a mix of rain and snow showers as the low temperature drops to about 35 degrees. The chance for overnight precipitation is about 50%, with little or no snow accumulation expected in the city.
Monday through Wednesday, Denver weather’s will be dry with a warming trend. The high temperature on Wednesday and Thursday will climb into the low 80s, according to the forecast.
