A FAMILY is raffling their £180,000 home for £2.50 a ticket to raise funds for a charity looking for a cure for their daughter’s rare cancer.
Samantha Wilkinson’s daughter Oonagh, three, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was 19 months old.
The cause of the cancer is still unknown but it affects around 100 children each year in the UK – mostly under the age of five.
After having a third child, the family have decided to sell their two-bed home in Ulverston, Cumbria, and buy a three-bed instead.
They're selling 120,000 tickets at just £2.50 a pop, with any funds raised above the £180,000 evaluation going to Neuroblastoma UK.
If they sell all of the tickets they'll raise £40,000 for the charity.
Samantha, 36, said: “It’s a great opportunity for someone to get a home for just £2.50.
"And we’d love to be able to give something back to hopefully push forward research into this cancer.”
Oonagh was tested again in November, 2020 and thankfully doctors said she was cancer free and healthy, but Samantha says she still worries about her daughter.
She said: "We've got so much anxiety every day about her condition but we're hopeful.
"We live in a constant state of fear if she's ever ill I just worry the cancer has come back.
"I'm scared if she even has a tummy ache but I'm just so grateful she's healthy."
