A Florida woman suspected of driving drunk attempted to prove her sobriety by doing an Irish folk dance, newly released body-camera footage shows.
Amy Harrington, 38, rear-ended another car about one mile from her Madeira Beach home on April 27. Officers who responded to the crash said she was showed several signs of inebriation – including having bloodshot, watery eyes, and dilated pupils – so they asked her to walk in a straight line to test her sobriety.
During the test Harrington ‘struggled to follow instructions, and was unsteady on her feet almost falling,’ an incident report obtained by WFLA read.
As she began to stumble Harrington recovered by doing ‘multiple ballet and Irish folk dance moves,’ the report said. Body-camera footage from the incident released Saturday showed Harrington’s moves.

In the video Harrington can be seen standing in a dark parking lot in front of a straight white line as two police officers look on.
She began to walk the line but stumbled on her fourth step, then quickly transitioned the fall into a dance routine.
She could be seen stepping to her own tune deftly along the line, then twirling well off and across the parking lot as the officers watch.
‘Do you want to pay attention so I can give you the instructions?’ one of the officers could be heard saying on a later attempt at the test.
‘Yeah, well, you sound like my ballet coach,’ Harrington responded, then she began to walk the line again.
Once more she made it only a handful of steps before beginning to fall, and recovered again with a series of pirouettes and steps.
‘That wasn’t good,’ the officer said after Harrington finished her routine. She then shrugged and continued to twirl about the blacktop.

The cops could be seen cops finally cuffing Harrington once they’d had enough.
Harrington refused to take a blood alcohol content test and was charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to testing.
Officers also said a cup containing liquid smelling of alcohol was found in the cup-holder of Harrington’s car.
Harrington had also refused to be tested for alcohol in a March 3, though it is unclear what became of that incident.
