Prince Philip’s funeral will take place today, Saturday April 17, with just 30 people in attendance.

The public have been asked to pay their respects from home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The guest list has been revealed, and consists of the Queen, Philip’s close family and friends, and even some of his German relatives.

As the Queen’s consort, Prince Philip is entitled to a full state funeral, but in line with his wishes he will instead have a ceremonial service.

A modified Land Rover, which the Duke of Edinburgh helped design himself, will carry his coffin through the grounds of Windsor Castle to St George’s Chapel.

Here are all the key timings and schedule for the day ahead.

Prince Philip funeral timeline

11am: Prince Philip’s coffin will be moved from the private chapel to the Inner Hall of Windsor Castle.

His coffin will be covered with his Personal Standard along with his sword, naval cap and a wreath of flowers.

2pm: The Lord Chamberlain, the Constable and Governor of Windsor Castle and the Dean of Windsor will be present in the Inner Hall.

2.10pm: The Dean of Windsor will say prayers before leaving by car to St George’s Chapel.

2.15: Representatives from the services will in place in the Quadrangle to show Philip’s special military relationships.

Household Cavalry and The Foot Guards will also be present.

2.17pm: The band of the Grenadier Guards will be in the Engine Court.

Between 2.20 and 2.27pm: Members of the Royal Family and Philip’s relatives not taking part in the procession will leave Windsor Castle by car and head to St George’s Chapel.

2.27pm: The Land Rover will enter the Quadrangle through George IV Gate, where bands will start to play music.

The service chiefs, the Major General commanding the Household Division and his staff will leave from the Equerries Entrance and take position by the State Entrance.

They will face the Land Rover while pallbearers will take up position either side of the vehicle, before they move towards the State Entrance.

2.38pm: The coffin will start to be lifted in the Inner Hall.

2.40pm: The bands will stop playing music, and members of Prince Philip’s household will take their positions.

2.41pm: The coffin will emerge from the State Entrance, and be met by Royal Family members who are walking in the procession.

The coffin will be placed onto the Land Rover.

2.44pm: The Queen, accompanied by a lady-in-waiting, will leave from the Sovereign’s Entrance.

2.45pm: The procession will start, and it’s planned to take eight minutes.

2.53pm: The Land Rover will arrive at the foot of the West Steps of the chapel.

3pm: A national minute’s silence will take place, signalled by a gun fired by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery.

Afterwards, Dean of Windsor and the Archbishop of Canterbury will receive the coffin and the doors to St George’s Chapel will close.

The Royal Navy Piping Party will pipe the “Carry On”.

After the service: The Queen and members of the Royal Family will leave the chapel via the Galilee Porch.
