Furious mum-of-four pulls daughter out of primary school over bitter autism row

A furious mother-of-four has pulled her two kids out of a primary school after an explosive row with staff.

Chelsea Lee claims her autistic three-year-old Essiana Hammersley lasted under two weeks at the Newcastle school.

The mother has accused the education establishment of trying to force her daughter out, Staffordshire Live reports.

She has also removed nine-year-old Keo Hammersley after claiming he was bullied over his religious beliefs.

The academy has fought back against the allegations, and stressed that neither school place had been withdrawn.

They also strongly deny all bullying allegations.

Essiana had been moved from Peter Pan Centre to Friarswood in September so she could be with her brother.

Chelsea, aged 28, from Clayton, told Staffordshire Live : “She did a week-and-a-half there. In my opinion, they were trying to think of every excuse possible for her not to be suitable.

“I decided to move her because I had Keo already in Friarswood. I also had one child who had just started at Merryfields school so I wouldn't be able to accommodate picking all three children up at the same time. It was virtually impossible.

“I was gutted and heartbroken. They didn’t give her enough time. There’s no reason why the school couldn’t meet her needs."

Chelsea then had to decide whether she would keep Keo at Friarswood.

She claims that a boy has been "terrorising him about the devil" at school because he is religious.

The "disappointed" mum says the school hasn't tried to resolve it and instead claims that they suggested Keo move to a new school.

A trust spokesman said: "Neither child in this case has had their place at Co-op Academy Friarswood withdrawn. In some cases we work with parents to decide if there is another provision that is better suited to a child’s developmental needs.

“We take any allegation of bullying very seriously, but following an investigation, we totally refute Mrs Lee’s version of events."
