A firefighter, who did not wish to be named, said the station’s firefighters ‘were crude’ with the doll but ‘felt demeaned’ by the incident.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue said that for ‘reasons of confidentiality’ it was unable to confirm where the incident took place or how many of its staff were involved.

The fire service said, said: ‘Over the past two years, the GFRS senior leadership team have visited all members of staff to promote and explain the importance of the service’s values.

‘GFRS staff are expected to conduct themselves at all times in accordance with these values as well as demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism, integrity and tolerance.

‘Falling short of this is completely unacceptable. This incident has now been fully investigated and the appropriate disciplinary action has been taken.’
