Prince Harry has made a surprise cameo appearance to celebrate his wife Meghan Markle's 40th birthday in a sweet video.

The Duchess of Sussex turns 40 today and has released a 135-second clip with a call to help women who are heading back into the workforce after having lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

In the clip, the mum-of-two enlists the help of Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy to unveil 40×40, a campaign encouraging people around the world to give 40 minutes of their time to support women going back to work.

Meghan looks radiant in her white outfit as she accessories it with two necklaces featuring the constellation signs of her child, Archie and Lilibet.

Presented in a video call format, Melissa shares her idea of a birthday celebration to Meghan, saying: ""My first guess is, it another photo shoot under a tree where you're looking very peaceful?"

"Peaceful under a tree is me every day," Meghan responds.

The comedian then asks if they're instead getting matching tattoos of their faces with "besties forever" written underneath.

"Well, you know I already have something similar across my back," Meghan jokes. "You know, maybe we save it for when I turn 50."

The Duchess then reveals her plan and says she is asking for 40 of her friends to donate 40 minutes of their time to "help mentor a woman who's mobilising back into the workforce."

Prince Harry also makes a subtle appearance at the end of the video when they showed the cuts from behind-the-scenes.

The Duke, who wears a navy polo shirt and dons a pair of sunglasses, shows up outside the house by the window and is seen juggling some fruits.

Meghan is in the dark until Melissa notices and bursts out laughing.

She then turns around and sees her husband playing with the limes.

Meghan has already secured the 40×40 pledge from the likes of Adele, Amanda Gorman, Amanda Nguyen, Deepak Chopra, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, Gloria Steinem, José Andrés, Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, and Stella McCartney, according to Archewell.
