Horrifying moment female thrill-seeker smashes into rocks when cliff jump into Italian sea goes badly wrong

  • Woman’s partner tried to hold onto her, but she crashed into the rocks below
  • It reportedly took an hour for her to be transported to a waiting ambulance

This is the terrifying moment a female thrillseeker smashed into rocks after her cliff jump into the Italian sea went horribly wrong.

A tourist at the Fiordo di Furore cliffs – which translates to Fjord of Fury – in Italy recorded the moment a woman plunged down the rock face into the water below, despite her partner desperately trying to grab her.

The woman appeared to hit her legs on the rough rocks before falling head-first into the sea.

Australian tourist Kal Glanzig, who recorded the footage, had highlighted just moments before her fall how important travel insurance was as she appeared to get ready to jump into the water.

Mr Glanzig said: ‘On this week’s episode of why you should get travel insurance, we have old mate (the woman) who has no idea what the water temp is.’

The caption of the video read: ‘If only travel insurance companies offered extra idiot protection.’

He said it took nearly an hour to get the woman to the waiting ambulance.

His video stunned viewers, as many commented they couldn’t understand why she would want to jump into the water in the first place due to it being shallow.

One of his followers said: ‘Something tells me her day tomorrow is going to be just as bad’, while another added: ‘

Tourism chiefs have long warned of the dangers of leaping off cliffs into the sea for thrills.

Last year, a British tourist was left in intensive care after falling on rocks as he jumped into the sea near the Ibiza party resort of San Antonio.

The holidaymaker, believed to be 33, was said to have suffered a cervical spine fracture which can cause paralysis from the chest down.

earlier this year, two men were seriously injured after a botched cliff dive saw them plunge 100ft down the sheer rock face before belly-flopping into a water-filled ravine below.

Shocking footage showed the moment the unidentified men stood atop the cliff next to a wooden cross, took a deep breath, and then leapt one after the other into the abyss in the area of Canteras de Deuco in Angol, Chile, on January 4.

The first jumper landed mere feet from the cliff edge, narrowly escaping death, but hit the water with a sickening slap and sent water spraying high into the air despite holding a relatively stable body position.
