‘I dated one of Britain’s most wanted but had no idea he tortured dad to death’

The ex-girlfriend of a monster who was on the run for torturing a dad to death in front of his kids has spoken for the first time in an interview with Daily Star.

Stella Paris claims she shared a lavish mansion with Christopher Guest More – but had no idea he was one of Europe's most wanted and dangerous men.

She met the former undercover BBC TV researcher while working as a stripper in her home country of Malta – nine years after he and four other men mercilessly murdered fellow Brit Brian Waters on June 19, 2003.

More, who later disguised himself under the name Andrew Lamb, reportedly hung his victim, 44, upside down by the ankles, battered him with weapons like bamboo canes and burned him with melting plastic while Waters’ kids watched on in despair.

A court heard how his dangling head was also submerged in a green barrel filled with dirty water. The gruesome four-hour attack dished out by More and a gang over a £20k drug debt happened in a filthy cowshed at Burnt House Farm in Tabley, Cheshire.

Disturbing police images of the barbaric torture chamber showed a chair with ligatures still attached along with a stapler used to hurt Waters. The victim eventually died of multiple injuries including a brain bleed, heart bruising and fractured ribs.

But cowardly More fled to live a life of luxury in Malta where he met Stella in May 2012.

And Stella, now 35, has now spoken about what it was like dating a killer – who she says once chucked boiled eggs at her because they were “too runny”.

Speaking exclusively with the Daily Star, the former radiographer said: “It took me a whole year to process the fact that I had been living, eating and sleeping with someone whose real name and background I didn’t know.

“The fact he was a murderer shattered me. The details of the torture horrified me and was hard on my mental health.

“Oh god, you have no idea how it affected my life. It caused me not to trust people. How can you know who someone really is?”

And remembering one dark encounter, she said: ”One morning he asked me to make him boiled eggs for breakfast and one of them was more runny than he likes and he threw it at me.

“I said that was the final straw and I was leaving him. But he wrestled me to the ground and I struggled because he was very strong.

“He bruised my wrist and I got up and went to my mum’s home.”

More, 43, was jailed for life last December for killing the dad-of-two after Interpol finally arrested him in Malta in 2019.

But before justice caught up with him, he met Stella in a Maltese strip club after she quit the medical profession to become a dancer.

Remembering her first impressions of him, Stella, then 26, said: “I didn’t like him much. I thought he was arrogant and egotistical but he later apologised for the first meeting. He said he was very irritated and tired after a long day of work.

“The nights he visited me afterwards he was very different. He was trying to win me and was putting on the charm.

“After I gave him a dance he lifted me up from my armpits and said ‘you’re going to be mine, you’re going to be mine’ and he was very charming.

“He used to carry a big stash of money and to be honest at first that’s what attracted me to him initially. I wanted to make money and I saw him as a client.”

Determined More kept returning to the club until he finally convinced Stella to go to his apartment so he could make her breakfast after boasting that he was an “amazing cook”.

She said: “He sent me the address and I went to his house. He said, ‘this is not for the money is it, you want me to pay you’?

“I told him I didn’t want his money and that I had been thinking about him and he asked me over for breakfast so that’s why I was there.

“He asked me to prove it so we got naked in the kitchen and that’s it really. We became really in love and lust.”

The pair quickly moved in together and even got a French bulldog called Zeus. More also showed off his wealth by taking Stella to expensive restaurants on the island.

And she described her new lover as motivated, positive-thinking and someone who had a visionary attitude towards business and making money.

“Some people will say how could I not have known he was a criminal,” she said. “But I didn’t because he was extremely well spoken, an entrepreneur, very posh and we used to eat in the best restaurants and he had a certain etiquette.

“He was a shrewd businessman and when we met he told me he was working behind the scenes on a movie with Tom Hanks.

“He said he would be sailing the boat they were using, he was a yacht skipper. It was a life I could once only dream of."

But she soon learned that More was a disturbed man, but not for the reasons she thought.

Stella explained: “He used to have horrible nightmares and I would play with his hair and I used to support him. I wanted to fix him. I knew something was wrong with him but I didn’t know he was a criminal.

“I thought maybe the nightmares meant he was abused in the past. I used to tell him he could talk to me about anything and I wouldn’t judge but he said he couldn’t talk about it and that I'd leave him if I knew the truth.”

Despite his ominous behaviour, Stella said she fell for More and even introduced him to her parents.

They also moved into a secluded mansion at the end of April 2013 to continue their extravagant lifestyle.

“It was possibly the most expensive rental on the island,” Stella remembered.

But the Brit soon became “extremely controlling” – and according to Stella, he would prohibit photos being taken, social media use and discussions of holidaying abroad.

Stella said: “He had a surfer look with long hair and it went to his shoulders. He used to tie it up at home but when he went out he put his hair down and looked down to hide his face from people and he used to really rush.

“Once when we went to a restaurant I was like ‘hold on, are you trying to hide your face because you are ashamed of me? Are you worried Maltese people are going to see me and they will know you’re going out with a stripper’?

“He was acting really, really weird and he used to fight for me for no reason. I wanted to take pictures together and he didn’t want to and he asked me not to be on social media.”

Stella, who is now based in the UK, continued: “I still worked as a dancer too but he judged me for it despite it being how he met me. He used to say it wasn’t a classy job just because I made more money than most Maltese people.

“He was verbally abusive to me and he saw I was in love with him and worshipped him.

“He used to cook all the time and he wouldn’t eat my food even though I used to make really good food as well. He used to say it was disgusting and it was because he wanted to control me and make me think I could not survive without him.

“He always said he was special.”

But the relationship crumbled days after the boiled eggs were launched at her.

Stella threatened to leave him as she had done many times before.

However, she said: “It was hard for me to leave him, the mansion, the dogs.

“I thought I had found the person that I was going to spend the rest of my life with. He was a successful businessman and I wanted to prove to my dad that I wasn’t going out with these silly little bad boys any more.

“I wanted to prove something to my parents. He was well spoken, an entrepreneur and he had a lot of money and I thought I was good.

“So when he rang me to say it really was over my whole world fell apart. It’s not what most people will think, it wasn’t just about the money. I loved him truly.”

The relationship ended in July 2013 and Stella moved to London for a new life.

But while visiting her parents in August 2019, she learned the deranged truth about the man she wanted to marry.

She remembered: “We had dinner and while my mother was cleaning the dishes she said ‘oh your ex was in the news by the way, he is a criminal, you went out with a criminal’.

“She showed me the article and left me to read it. My heart started pumping and I started feeling dizzy.

“The blood went into my head and my face. It was that he had been arrested. I was shocked and I cried for days. The first couple of days I was numb.

“I spent two hours reading all the articles in Malta and England and all the things he had one. I was trying to piece it all together and was making sure my name wasn’t in it.

“I was so anxious and my whole body went up in a rash thinking about the details of his crime. I couldn’t eat a thing and I am already petite but I went down to 44 kilos, it was really bad.

“I spent a whole year with this person. Now I have finally come to accept it and I want to tell the public and share my story.

“Be careful who you trust.”

More is now serving a life sentence after being found guilty of murder and also of causing grievous bodily harm to a second man at the farm.
