Amid escalating tension in the Middle East, expert of Arab affairs and Israeli journalist Zvi Yehezkeli warned his country must prepare for an attack from the Islamic Republic. Speaking to 103FM Radio, Mr Yehezkeli insisted both Israel and the US are preparing for what he termed as “another provocative” strike from Iran.
He said: “US reports show that the Iranians are prepared for another provocative attack.
“The Iranians understand that their strength comes from provoking the West, that that’s where they build their strength and build their deterrence.
“You don’t need secret reports in order to see that the Americans’ behaviour and the Israelis’ behaviour says that the Iranians are working on a kind of provocative attack.
“I don’t know how strong it’ll be or where exactly it’ll be, but we’ve seen at least six of those kinds of attacks throughout this year.”
Israeli Air Forces announced successful strikes on Iranian targets in Syria last month.
The attacks on Iranian targets came as a direct response to the launch of rockets from Syria which were intercepted Israeli Dome air defence last month.
Moreover, recently, following the attack on the Iranian Sabiti oil tanker in October, Iran’s Army Deputy Commander, Mahmoud Moussavi, warned that a strike will happen at “the right time and place”.
Mr Yehezkeli added: “It’s clear that in the US, Trump doesn’t want to be militarily involved with Iran.

“They prefer sanctions.
“But that is also provocative.
“Look at the maps of where Iran’s weapons are located, they’ve placed medium-range weapons in Iraq, they sent parts of advanced weapons to Yemen, they increased their presence in Syria, and it doesn’t stop.
“I think that the Israeli attacks or American shouts do not stop the Iranians.

“Certainly. Both the Israelis and the Americans are preparing for a kind of Iranian reaction, which will certainly come at some point in the future.”
Adding to the tensions between the three states, US military officials have claimed the Islamic Republic is secretly moving missiles in the region.
As reported by The New York Times, Iran is allegedly building a continued missile presence in Iraq in order to assert its power.
Elissa Slotkin, the Democrat representative for Michigan and a member of the House Armed Services Committee said: “People are not paying enough attention to the fact that ballistic missiles in the last year have been placed in Iraq by Iran with the ability to project violence on the region.”
Moreover, such is the state of the conflict, that US officials are allegedly considering deploying more military assets in the region according to leak reports.
According to the anonymous White House source, Donald Trump is considering sending an additional 14,000 troops to the Iranian border.
Responding to the rumour, trump did not deny the number but also insisted that the Iranian threat “it will be met very strongly”.
Trump added: “We’ll announce whether we will or not.
“Certainly there might be a threat.
“And if there is a threat, it will be met very strongly. But we will be announcing what we may be doing — may or may not be doing.”
