Man, 18, stabbed to death in broad daylight on east London street as cops launch murder probe

A TEENAGER has been stabbed to death on an east London street today, the second fatal knifing in the capital in four days.

The 18-year-old was fatally knifed in broad daylight in Canning Town this afternoon.


Police were called at around 2.45pm to Coolfin Road to reports that a man had been stabbed.

Paramedics and cops battled to save the teen's life, but he died at the scene.

A murder investigation has been launched by the Met and no arrests have been made.

Police slapped Section 60 stop and search powers on the whole of the borough of Newham until 7am tomorrow.

MURDER PROBE

The killing took place about a mile from where 14-year-old Fares Maatou was stabbed to death in his school uniform outside a pizza restaurant on Friday.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the schoolboy's murder.

Cops said Fares was believed to have been in possession of an e-scooter when he was attacked.

Following today's killing, a police spokesman said: "A murder investigation is underway following a fatal stabbing in Canning Town.

"Police were called at approximately 14:45hrs on Monday, 26 April to reports of a man, believed aged 18, stabbed in Coolfin Road, E16.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended but despite their best efforts he died at the scene.

A crime scene remains in place. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.

"There has been no arrests. A section 60 has been authorised for the whole of Newham borough between 16:00hrs on Monday, 26 April and 07:00hrs on Tuesday, 27 April."
