Man, 44, found lying in the road at 5am dies of injuries – as cops probe 'hit and run'

A MAN found lying in the road in the early hours of this morning has died of his injuries as cops probe a possible “hit and run” incident.

The 44-year-old man, whose identity has not been revealed, was treated by paramedics in Northfield, Birmingham, but died at the scene.


Police are currently trying to establish what happened and how the man came to be lying on the busy Bristol Road South.

Cops said a collision investigation team, supported by local officers, are speaking to people in the area, and are examining CCTV footage and other evidence.

A forensic post-mortem will be carried out to confirm exactly how the man died.

Bristol Road South remains closed at the junction of Bodenham Road and Chelston Road.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

They said in a statement: “The 44-year-old was treated by paramedics but sadly died at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
