Meghan and Harry should ‘stop playing the victim and get on with their lives’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should "stop playing the victim" and "get on with their lives", a royal author has said.

Phil Dampier has claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should "stop playing on their royal connections".

He also said the talks between Prince Harry, dad Charles and brother William were an 'opening move' to repairing their relationship.

Harry, 36, arrived back in the UK for the first time since he and wife Meghan, 39, moved to America last year.

After quarantining ahead of Prince Philip's funeral, Harry spent a few days in the country before jetting off back home to pregnant Meghan the day before the Queen's birthday.

Before the Duke of Edinburgh died in his sleep on April 19, Harry had publicly claimed his relatives were "trapped" within The Firm while sat next to his wife in an explosive chat with Oprah Winfrey in March.

He also claimed Prince Charles had stopped answering his calls and the Sussexes had been cut off financially.

In the bombshell interview, the brother admitted his relationship with Prince William was strained and the siblings had 'space' between them.

  • Meghan Markle and Harry branded 'hypocritical' over leaked message to Kate and Will

Although, following the service at Windsor Castle earlier this month, there was a glimmer of hope after Harry and William were seen talking when walking away from St George's Chapel.

Royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun: “The discussions after Prince Philip’s funeral were a start, but were clearly very strained and only an opening move."

"He said that with Harry and Meghan expecting their second child, a baby girl, they have "all they want to make them happy if they are going to be".

Mr Dampier added: “To carry on a war with Harry’s blood family is unnecessary and counter-productive, and the sooner they realise that the better.

“They should get on with their lives, stop playing the victim and stop playing on their royal connections by leaking stories while pleading for privacy."

Buckingham Palace has only released one statement since the interview on March 8.

The Palace said any issues would be dealt with privately and the Sussexes would always be much-loved members of the family.

Meghan also spoke out about her mental health when becoming a senior royal and opened up about having suicidal thoughts.

Many praised the duchess for speaking about these issues with health charity Mind stating people are more likely to seek help if they know a celebrity has opened up about their own experience.
