A MUM has died in hospital two days after a horror blaze that also killed her two daughters aged just one and three.

Fatoumatta Hydara, 28, little Naeemah, one, and Fatimah Drammeh, three, were tragically killed in the fire in a first-floor flat in Nottingham on Sunday.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene at 3.17am on Sunday and the tots were rushed to hospital.

But tragically they couldn't be saved and died shortly after.

Fatoumatta was placed on a life support machine but died on Tuesday morning.

Cops have now launched a triple murder investigation and have concluded the blaze was "started deliberately".

Detectives arrested a 31-year-old man from Clifton on suspicion of murder and attempted murder on Sunday night.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski said: “We are dealing with one of the most horrendous crimes – the death of two young children and their mother.

"This is a deeply upsetting tragedy and I can only imagine the family’s pain. They include the woman’s husband and the father of the two children, who was not in the UK at the time of the fire.

“This has been an extremely traumatic event for them, and I’d like to reassure them we’re doing everything we possibly can to bring them the justice they deserve.

He added: “This is now being treated as a triple homicide.

“The local community has been shocked and deeply saddened by the events of the past two days and I want to thank those living in the area for the patience and understanding while we gather evidence at the scene.

“I also want to thank those who have already come forward, but I would urge anyone with any information, regardless of how insignificant you think it may be, to contact us.

“We would specifically like to speak to anyone who was in or around Fairisle Close between between 12am and 4.30am on Sunday morning.”

Horrified neighbours previously told how the fire took hold of the flat in the early hours of the morning.

One told The Sun: "The whole flat was engulfed in fire and thick black smoke and many of the neighbours had to be evacuated and are still not allowed back home."

Local dad Rob added: "There were emergency services everywhere and firefighters had gotten into the flat and managed to rescue the two little kids, one’s just a baby.

"They were lucky to be alive, and I prayed for them, but later heard they had passed away and I wept for them.

"It’ s such a harrowing thing to see and made worse because the fire was started deliberately.
