Neighbours at war as bloke builds huge wall in his garden ‘because he was bored’

A pair of angry neighbours have declared war after one of them built a massive 16ft fence that blocks resident's views because he was "bored".

The wall's creator, Ali, said it was a combination of feeling bored in lockdown and wanting some privacy that led him to build his aggravating creation.

Ali, from Sydney, has named his new wall "The Great Wall of Chester Hill," much to the disapproval of his neighbours.

The new addition to the garden stands three times the height of the average suburban fence, The Sun reports.

Describing his actions as a "Covid brain explosion", Ali told Australia's 9 Now: "Well, when you're sitting at home and you're not allowed to go nowhere and the neighbours are looking at you, you say 'you know what? I'm going to build a bloody wall."

"It's like going to an art museum when you look at it," he added.

The homemade wall was created with a steel frame and posts, using potted gum timber in parquetry design.

The creative neighbour even used a panel that lights up in the dark.

But not all of the wall looks quite so sophisticated, as the back sees wires and nails sticking out.

Ali continued: "Yeah well I was going to do a nice feature on the other side as well but when you have d******* neighbours, then that's what happens."

The wall has caused so much annoyance that the local council claims they've received multiple complaints – leading to Ali being issued a strict notice to remove the wall within two weeks.

He has put in a late appeal in an attempt to keep his creation but says he will sell the fence to someone else if he needs to.

It comes after a mum was left furious her neighbours scaled her wall to use her garden when she was at work.

She said she was "annoyed" after they were caught on an outdoor camera clambering over the wall when the gate was locked.

She confessed she was "concerned it’ll escalate" and wanted to avoid conflict because her neighbours "aren't the friendliest of people at the best of times".

The cheeky neighbours sat in her property all afternoon, for six hours, eating and drinking at her table.

Although unsure how to respond, people online told her to take the matter seriously.
