A plainclothes NYPD cop was shot in the Bronx on Tuesday night, police sources said.
The male officer was struck in the back during the shooting that took place at about 10:30 p.m. near Lafayette Avenue and White Plains Road in Soundview, sources said.
One person was in custody, and a gun was recovered under a vehicle near the scene, sources said.
The wounded cop, assigned to the Gun Violence Suppression Division, was taken in a police vehicle to Jacobi Hospital, according to sources.
His condition was not immediately clear.
