REPORTS of "shots fired" at a Pittsburg Mall forced shoppers to "hide in dressing rooms" as the situation unfolded on Saturday afternoon.

There was a large police presence on the scene at the Ross Park Mall around 4.30pm.

People on social media reported being told to shelter in place and hearing yelling and screaming in the mall as they hid inside stores.

KDKA reports that two people were taken into custody and police were looking for a third person.

It's unclear at this time what the exact nature of the incident is or if anyone was injured.

People are being told to avoid the area and video taken from outside of the mall shows a heavy police more than an hour after police first arrived.

The Ross Township Police confirmed that a response is underway, but were not able to provide any additional details as the situation is ongoing.
