Police in Napa County on Tuesday morning responded to a report of a woman with a shotgun on the grounds of the Veterans Home of California — but no suspect was ever found and authorities gave the all-clear several hours later.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team had quickly arrived at the facility in Yountville as well as officers with the California Highway Patrol.

“We’ve got our SWAT team on hand,” Napa County sheriff’s Sgt. John Hallman told The Press Democrat newspaper.

Police put out a notice for locals to “avoid the area” at 8:20 a.m. local time as authorities responded to the veterans home.

By 12:30 p.m., the facility had been cleared, and there was no evidence of a shooter, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Raul Gonzalez said, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Veterans Home of California was the site of a 2018 mass shooting that left three victims dead.

Shooter Albert Wong, a veteran, had killed three staff members at a treatment facility on the grounds of the home before fatally turning the gun on himself.

The Veterans Home of California, founded in 1884, is the largest in the US. The facility is home to nearly 800 residents.
