  • Jordan Trainor, 25, sent explicit picture messages to two 17-year-old inmates
  • The mother-of-one also smuggled mobile phones in for the pair at Wetherby YOI
  • Leeds Crown Court heard she allowed one of the young offenders to touch her
  • She claimed she was unhappy after moving to Yorkshire from London

A female prison officer who sent sexually explicit text messages and photographs of herself to two teenage inmates has been jailed for 18 months.

Jordan Trainor, 25, even printed off some of the X-rated selfies on the office computer at the Wetherby Young Offenders Institution and handed them to a 17 year old convict.

The married mother of one allowed one of the teens to touch her bum and smuggled in phones, and possibly drugs and weapons to the two boys, a court heard.

Jordan Trainor, 25, pictured, was jailed for 18 months after she sent explicit messages to two inmates at Wetherby Young Offenders’ Institution including naked selfies

Trainor, of Normanton, near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, who is now 17 weeks pregnant with her second child, broke down in tears as she was jailed at Leeds Crown Court after pleading guilt to misconduct in a public office.

Sentencing Judge Simon Phillips QC told her: ‘As a former prison officer, serving any sentence is a challenging and difficult proposal with the reception you will get from other inmates.

‘You abused you position of significant trust and responsibility.’

Trainor found both 17 year old inmates had illicit mobile phones in Wetherby, but reported neither to the authorities.

The judge said: ‘You used the fact that he had a phone to send him sexualised text messages and images and you printed out copies of those sexualised photographs at your work and handed them to him.

‘You engaged in flirtatious behaviour with these inmates, which you enjoyed.

‘You accept that you liked the contact you were having with these two young inmates.’

The court heard Trainor had previously worked at Feltham Young Offenders Institute, London, until she moved to Yorkshire with her husband and their young daughter when he changed jobs.

She started work at Wetherby in June, 2018, where she came into contact with the two youths, who cannot be identified because of their age.

Prosecutor Jonathan Sharp told the court that in Autumn 2019 she developed a ‘flirtatious relationship’ with the first boy after she discovers he had a mobile phone.

‘She took sexual photographs of herself and sent them to his phone and in a particularly bold move she printed out the photos at work and handed them to him,’ said Mr Sharp.

She also smuggled three ‘phone shaped packages’ into Wetherby for the first boy.

Trainor then developed an inappropriate relationship with the second boy after learning he had three mobile phones in his cell.

‘She began sending him sexual text messages and sexual photographs and she let him touch her sexually on three occasions,’ he said.

Trainor would swap shifts with colleagues to be with the second inmate and by December ‘gossip was rife’ between staff and inmates about what was going on.

On December 23, 2019 Trainor sent the text ‘Cannot wait to see you today. Miss your face x’

The message was Intercepted and Trainor was stopped at the prison gates as she arrived for work.

Soon after she was sent home in disgrace that morning she sent the text ‘I’ll not see you again, I’ve been suspended.’

Mitigating Miss Jade Edwards said Trainor has a three year old daughter and is expecting her second child in June.

She said Trainor had been in an unhappy marriage and her husband has given her little attention.

Trainor felt rejected by fellow officers at Wetherby because of her London accent and they referred to her as ‘Drainor’ rather than Trainor, said Miss Edwards.

Trainor was drinking 12 cans of Stella each day.

‘The two inmates were her only friends and they paid her interest and she welcomed it,’ said Miss Edwards.

She said Trainor, who is no longer with her husband and has a new partner – the father of her unborn child – is now ‘disgusted in herself’.

The offending took place at Wetherby Young Offender Institution (pictured) on or before December 23, 2019
