'Purge killer' Joseph Jimenez appears in court as he's charged over shooting of teens on first date at movie theatre

ALLEGED "Purge" shooter Joseph Jimenez appeared in court on Friday charged with opening fire on two teens on a first date at a movie theatre in Corona, California – leaving one dead and the other fighting for life.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged Jimenez, 20, with murder and attempted murder and added sentence enhancements for using a firearm to cause death and injury.

In emotional scenes in court, Dave Goodrich, the father of 18-year-old victim Rylee Goodrich, screamed and wept as Jimenez was led from the Riverside court complex.

He shouted: "Hey, look at me, bro!" Look at me! Look at me, dude!" before sobbing and falling into a friend's embrace.

Jimenez is currently being held without bail after he allegedly stormed Regal Edwards Corona Crossings movie theater and shot Goodrich and 19-year-old Anthony Barajas on Monday night.

The shooting took place during a screening of the movie The Forever Purge.

Goodrich was pronounced dead at the scene and Barajas, who remains on life support, was left critically injured.

Goodrich, a cheerleader, was reportedly on a first date with Barajas, a TikTok influencer.

Dave Goodrich said earlier his daughter "never even had a chance" after Jimenez allegedly shot her at point blank range.

Barajas has reportedly been declared as brain dead following the shooting.

Police took Jimenez into custody while serving a search warrant at his presumed residence just outside the Corona city limits.

While executing the search warrant, police found a handgun of the same caliber that was the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting.

Authorities are still working to find a motive for the shooting.

There does not seem to be a connection between the victims and Jimenez, with the District Attorney's Office saying they believe the attack to be random.
