Putin ‘plotting false flag on oil refinery’ to drag Belarus into Ukraine war

Ukraine: Drone footage shows fighting near Bilohorivka

Vladimir Putin’s forces are planning a “false flag” attack on Belarus to force the country into the Ukraine war, according to Kyiv’s Security Service (SBU).

Russian forces will strike the Mozyr Oil Refinery and blame the attack on Ukrainian saboteurs in an effort to drag Minsk into the war, their intel suggests.

Preparations for the strike were being made by “a sabotage and intelligence group” of Russian special forces who were sent to Belarus under the guise of being Wagner Group mercenaries, the SBU said on Telegram.

“Security Service employees received information about a planned terrorist attack in Belarus from several sources,” the intelligence service said.

It continued: “In particular, [information was gained] from the testimony of a serviceman of Russia, who was taken prisoner by Ukrainian defenders in the Zaporizhzhia direction.”

The SBU issued a stark warning to Belarus against joining a “full-scale war against Ukraine”.

“Every invader who crosses the border of our state will be destroyed by our security and defence forces,” it said.

The news comes as Ukraine increased attacks on Russian territory. Moscow has been rocked by several explosions this week as Kyiv sends its drones to the Russian capital.

Ukraine also attacked a Russian Black Sea naval base today with water-borne drones, according to the Russian defence ministry which said the attacks were repelled.

However, Ukraine’s Security Service claimed the Olenegorsky Gornyak was hit a hole blown in the ship’s side.

An unverified video on social media appeared to show the ship listing on its side.

The Olenegorsky Gornyak is an amphibious landing ship which is likely used to help resupply Russian forces in the south of the country.

The Novorossiysk port on the Black Sea was closed after the attack, according to local reports.
