Two Scotland fans have been arrested in London’s Leicester Square as thousands of Tartan Army supporters fill the street ahead of the highly-anticipated Euro 2020 match against England at Wembley.

Thousands of supporters have descended on the capital ahead of the crunch Euro 2020 match on Friday night.

Officers from the City of Westminster Police say they have detained two people in connection with alleged assaults on Friday afternoon, Daily Record reports.

A police spokesperson said: "There are currently several thousand football fans in the Leicester Sq area and this is being closely monitored.

"Two arrests have been made for common assault. In light of Covid restrictions, we would advise individuals not to attend the area unless absolutely necessary.

"We wish to reassure you that a full policing plan is in place to cover the football fixture between England and Scotland today.

"The plan draws on the experience and skills of local officers together with specialist trained public order and football trained officers."
