Shocking moment spectator, 58, is gored by raging bull after stepping through barrier at a Spanish festival

This is the horrifying moment a bull gores a man while onlookers scream in shock during a traditional Spanish festival.
Footage from the scene shows the raging animal charge at the 58-year-old victim, who has been identified only by his initials S.C.V., and lifting him into the air by its horns before the man crashes to the ground.
The man, who had stepped through a barrier and was next to the bull’s cage when he was attacked, suffered significant injuries to his leg and was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery.
The bull attack took place during the Sant Pere del Grau 2022 Festival in the Spanish province of Castellon in the Valencian Community on 30 June.

The bull is seen charging at the man who then runs towards the crowd of spectators, who are standing on the other side of some metal bars. Onlookers were heard screaming in shock as the bull gored the man’s upper thigh before the victim crashed to the ground.
The bull then runs off into the street whilst another man comes running at the animal with a blue cloth in an effort to distract the animal. The bull is then seen running through the street as a number of spectators rush to avoid the animal.
The victim suffered significant muscle damage and was treated by paramedics at the venue before being transferred to the Hospital General Universitario de Castellon where he underwent surgery to his injured leg. He is now recovering from his injuries.

He was not the only festival goer to be injured by a bull during the celebrations in Castellon.
Another man suffered non-life threatening injuries after being gored during a running of the bull’s event on 25 June.
There have been a number of people who have been seriously injured of killed by bulls during traditional events in Spain.
In May, Oscar Rodriguez Calleja, 50, died after being gored by a bull in front of his wife and one of his two daughters at a Spanish festival.
He was rushed to hospital after being speared in the groin by a 84-stone bull called Rodillero at Fiesta del Verdejo festival in the small town of La Seca, Valladolid, northern Spain, but medics were unable to save him.
Footage of the incident which happened on Sunday 1 May showed the moments before the bull dashed out of its wooden box, immediately taking a right turn towards the crowds stood behind barriers.
The father-of-two was then lifted by the bull’s horns as he stood behind the railings, then held up and dragged for a few seconds.
The bull pulled Oscar while with its horns before dumping him on the floor as onlookers watched in disbelief.

His loved ones suffered panic attacks and were treated at the scene before his wife was taken to a health centre.
Oscar had travelled from his home in the nearby municipality of Nava del Rey to take part in the festivities with his family.
In January a man was fatally gored by a charging heifer at a festival in Puerto Serrano in the south-west Spanish province of Cadiz.
He was described at the time as only the second person to be fatally gored during an annual festival in Spain involving bulls and heifers since the start of the Covid pandemic.
A 55-year-old man became the first person to die during a bull goring in Onda in the eastern Spanish province of Castellon at the end of October last year.
Before the coronavirus pandemic several revellers were gored to death every year at Spanish festivals involving bulls being let onto the street including the Pamplona-style ‘encierros.’
In 2015 seven people died between the start of July and the middle of August.
