Shooting reported at Idaho middle school

Three people were wounded in a school shooting in Idaho Thursday and the gunman was in custody, officials confirmed.

Shots broke out at Rigby Middle School in Rigby, a small town five hours outside Idaho Falls, Thursday morning, a local ABC News station reported.

Two students and an adult were injured but their wounds were not life-threatening, according to the report.

Police confirmed to the news station that the shooter was in custody.

“Today we had the worst nightmare a school district could encounter. We had a school shooting here at Rigby Middle School,” Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin said in a statement to the outlet. “What we know so far is the shooter has been apprehended. There is no further threat to the students.”

No further details have been released.
