Snaps taken by stunned scaffolder appears to show black panther on the prowl

FOOTAGE taken by a stunned scaffolder appears to show a black panther on the prowl.

Joshua-Levi Bennett, 24, filmed it near Ashurst, in West Sussex, at midday on Saturday.

He said: “I looked across and saw this big, black thing so I made my boss stop the van and got my camera out.

"There’s always been rumours big cats are round here.”

“It was definitely a big cat. It was prowling with intent.”

“I was really big into my animals and have never even seen an adder in this country.

“But I saw this at lunch time and I still haven’t calmed down.

It is the latest in a string of recent sightings.

Several are from near Pontybodkin, North Wales, while a big cat was reported to have killed ten sheep in Peover, near Macclesfield, Cheshire.

And a dog walker saw a cat “twice the size of a German Shepherd” in Lopen, Somerset.
