Teen, 17, arrested after 17-year-old schoolboy stabbed to death on London street as woman, 36, appears in court

A TEEN has been arrested after a 17-year-old schoolboy was stabbed to death in the street.

Levi Ernest-Morrison was attacked just two minutes from his home in Sydenham, South East London, on Saturday.

Police confirmed today a 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being quizzed in custody.

It comes after Nichola Leighton, 36, was charged with Levi's murder.

She is due to appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow after being remanded in custody following a short hearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Levi was walking home with pals when he was set upon yards from his home.

His attackers allegedly filmed the stabbing "in jest" as he lay dying in the street.

A post-mortem examination held on Monday gave Levi's preliminary cause of death as a stab wound leading to a catastrophic bleed.

A GoFundMe page for Levi's funeral, which will donate 20 per cent to the charity Lives Not Knives, has already raised almost £10,000.

The organiser said: "Levi was an intelligent and loving boy.

“He was a beautiful son, a playful brother, a loving grandson, godson and nephew, a devoted boyfriend and a loyal friend."

Police are still appealing any witnesses to come forward and say all information will be "treated in the strictest confidence".

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood, leading the investigation, said: "I am appealing for anyone who has information concerning the identity and whereabouts of the people involved in this murder to share what they know with my team.

"It is often the case that friends or acquaintances of the victim know who was responsible, if you are one of those people, please do the right thing by your friend and get in touch with us.

"Whatever you decide, please consider Levi and his devastated family and do the right thing."

Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting 6072/10APR or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
