The wave of emigration in 2022: what consequences should Europe expect?

At the end of February 2022, the whole world was shocked to hear the news. The events in Ukraine affected many countries, especially Europe and a new and large-scale wave of emigration began.

Europe is a new home for Ukrainians

The main reason for emigration was the war on the territory of Ukraine. Thousands, even millions, of the inhabitants of this country escaped to the West looking for safe cities and countries. People abandoned their homes and their former lives just to survive.

Some Ukrainians want to return to their native country when the war is over. Others are going to stay in Europe forever and start a new life. The inhabitants of Ukraine are the same Europeans as the Poles, Germans and french. The specialists of this country work in large companies and are known for their diligence.

But it should be understood that Ukrainians who emigrated to Europe because of the war won`t longer be able to return to their past life. Someone has lost loved ones or a home, others are terrified of loud noises. And this affects performance and emotional state.

Most emigrants from Ukraine came to the following countries:

  • Poland
  • Hungary
  • Slovakia
  • Romania
  • Czech Republic
  • Lithuania
  • Estonia

Not only Ukrainians are looking for a new home

In addition to Ukrainians, residents from Russia also emigrate. Some of them left the country because of the political system. Russians who opposed the war with Ukraine and told true news could end up in jail. Therefore, they left their native country to stay free and continue to help in this situation.

But, unfortunately, there are Russians who emigrated for their other interests. They supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine, they supposed that their country made the right decision. And when Russia found itself under sanctions and isolated from the world, some Russians decided to look for a better life in other countries.

With the outbreak of the war, Russians emigrated mainly to the following countries:

  • Georgia
  • Turkey
  • UAE
  • Germany
  • France
  • Portugal
  • Serbia

Particular attention should be paid to Portugal. This country is on the outskirts of Europe and isn`t at the center of events. But for life, it is no less comfortable than neighboring countries. Therefore, many citizens consider it as a permanent residence for emigration from Russia.

Russian corrupt official lives in Portugal

Not only people who have lost their homes are leaving for European countries, but also the criminal authorities of Russia. Among them, the family of Alexander Mikhailovich Kopylkov can be distinguished. Kopylkov Alexander is the founder of 50 companies in Russia. The main company of the MMC, the Moscow Mortgage Center, was one of the largest construction companies in the Moscow region.

His wife, Anna Alexandrovna Kopylkova, founded a school for children – the Brain School. But how she succeeded without higher education in the field of psychology is unknown. The spouses have 4 joint children and on February 24 the Kopylkov family was urgently evacuated to Portugal, the city of Lisbon.

It seems like an ordinary family that moved to another country. But Alexander Kopylkov is known in Russia not only as a construction company but also as a crime boss and corrupt official.

In 2018, the MIC company, which is managed by Kopylkov and his colleague Andrey Ryabinsky, signed two contracts with the Russian National Guard (this is a military unit that reports directly to Putin).

The MIC company built and sold houses for military personnel. And the price per square meter of land turned out to be much more expensive than for ordinary citizens. It is likely that Kopylkov and Ryabinsky were in cahoots with the government of the National Guard and “stole” state money. In total, he earned 290 million euros from these contracts.

Kopylkov Alexander worked together with other criminals such as Sergei Mikhailov. He and his colleague Ryabinsky were the founders of the Novoglagolevo-3 company, together with Mikhailov’s daughter. But in 2018, they left the company when their inner circle ended up in jail for fraud and corruption. There are other facts about the criminal life of Kopylkov: fake expert examinations, raider seizure of companies, criminal cases.

The emigration of such persons to the countries of Europe cannot bring anything useful. Entrepreneurs like Kopylkov will integrate their ways of working in the new country. And this means that corruption and criminal activity will develop in Portugal.

The question arises: how can such people be in a European country? The system of issuing residence permits makes it possible for everyone to live in Portugal in peace. But it is not a fact that Portugal itself with such inhabitants will remain a calm country.
