Trevor Noah trolls Jeffrey Toobin over masturbation scandal with VP clip

THE Daily Show’s Trevor Noah has poked fun at CNN’s Jeffery Toobin over the zoom masturbation scandal that occurred last year.

Referencing his return to the channel Noah took to Twitter to post an edited clip of Vice President Kamala Harris that said "do no come," making reference to the alleged naughty act.

Toobin had hit the headlines in 2020 after he was caught masturbating on a Zoom call about a presidential election podcast for WNYC and The New Yorker.

According to his colleagues, Toobin allegedly angled the computer camera, touched himself, and blew kisses at someone who wasn't one of his coworkers.

Shortly after the incident, Toobin apologized in a statement saying, "I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera.

"I apologize to my wife, family, friends, and co-workers."

He was subsequently suspended from the New Yorker, with its editor David Remnick releasing a statement to staff in regards to the incident saying: "As you may have read in various news reports today, one of our writers, Jeff Toobin, was suspended after an incident on a Zoom call last week.

"Please be assured that we take such matters seriously and that we are looking into it. Best, David."

The writer was shortly fired from the New Yorker after 27 years, but was kept on at CNN after he was granted a leave of absence until June 10, 2021.

He only returned to his role on Thursday, where he was interviewed by anchor Alisyn Camerota on the incident.

The news anchor asked “what the hell were you thinking” to which Toobin replied "Well, obviously, I wasn't thinking very well or very much, and it was something that was inexplicable to me."

A day later, Trevor Noah reacted to the anticipated return as he poked fun at his fellow TV presenter via an innuendo-led clip of Kamala Harris.

It was captioned, Jeffrey Toobin pops up on CNN again’ accompanied by clip of the Vice President saying “do not come.”

The post sparked a number of replies on Twitter as fans made their feelings known on the ‘joke’ made by Noah.

One said: “That's not funny using the VP (Vice President) of the United States of America. I still love you though!”

Another added: “Omg! That's all kinds of wrong!”

Others also reacted to the return of Toobin to the channel on Thursday.

“Saw his premier on CNN yesterday, there was no skirting around the issue, I was embarrassed to even watch it,” one admitted.

Another simply put: “It’s wrong on so many levels to see him on air again.”
