Trump Indictment LIVE: New York jury brings criminal charges

Here, follow Dailymail.com’s latest updates as Trump is indicted over hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels

Trump’s indictment centers around a $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016, allegedly to buy her silence over their reported affair.

But as political reaction starts to flood in, speculation is mounting that this could just be the beginning.

Trump is the subject of three other, separate criminal investigations. An Atlanta prosecutor is probing his alleged attempts to meddle in election results in Georgia.

And a federal special counsel, Jack Smith, is investigating Trump over his removal of classified documents from the White House.

Questions also still remain over his role in the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol.

Donald Trumps’s former attorney Michael Cohen said ‘no one is above the law’ as he responded to the jury’s decision to indict the ex-president.

Cohen was a key witness in Bragg’s investigation as he was the one to funnel the money to Daniels as part of an apparent non-disclosure settlement. He is said to have met with Bragg at least two dozen times during the investigation.

‘I do take solace in validating the adage that no one is above the law; not even a former President,’ he said in a statement.

‘Today’s indictment is not the end of this chapter; but rather, just the beginning.

‘Now that the charges have been filed, it is better for the case to let the indictment speak for itself.

‘The two things I wish to say at this time is that accountability matters and I stand by my testimony and the evidence I have provided to DANY.’

Cohen also told NBC that a mugshot of Trump is ‘going to really upset his frail ego.’

Stormy Daniels appeared to respond to the news of Trump’s indictment on Thursday.

She retweeted a post that read: ‘The indictment of Donald Trump is no cause for joy.

‘The hard work and conscientiousness of the grand jurors must be respected.

‘Now let truth and justice prevail. No one is above the law. #teamstormy.’

She simply wrote ‘Thank you’ in response.

Donald Trump has sensationally responded to his indictment, calling it ‘political persecution and election interference.’

Trump also repeated his earlier claims that the criminal charges are part of a ‘witch hunt’ cooked up by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.

‘I believe this witch-hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden,’ he said.

‘The American people realize exactly what the radical left democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it.’

His full statement appears on paper headed with the logo ‘TRUMP 2024’.

Donald Trump Junior received the news just minutes before he was due to present a live episode of his online vlog Triggered on website Rumble. He said: ‘We’re in a battle for our existence and this entire case hinges on unreliable, discredited witnesses like Stormy Daniels who I believe owes my father a couple of hundred grand in legal fees because they lost.

‘It hinged on disgraced jailed disbarred clown lawyer Michael Cohen along with a really shaky and murky legal theory surrounding campaign finance law again that the people who actually look at campaign finance law, the Feds, they didn’t even look at it.’

Eric Trump has blasted the indictment against his father as a ‘ruthless attack’ and the ‘decline of American law.’

Speaking exclusively to dailymail.com, Eric said: ”This is the opportunistic targeting of a political opponent in a campaign year.

‘They are ruthlessly attacking my father because he dared challenge the political elite. This is Exhibit A to the decline of American Law.’

The three lead prosecutors involved in the Trump investigation entered the office of the clerk in the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse and filed the paperwork for an indictment minutes before the office closed for the day, the New York Times reports. It is not known when the jury made the decision to indict the ex-president.

The White House declined to comment on the news of Trump’s indictment, when asked by Dailymail.com

A Manhattan grand jury has voted to indict Donald Trump over hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels following their alleged affair. Trump is expected to be arrested in the coming days.
