Paramedics treated the 22-year-old female driver and her two-year-old passenger at the scene.

The girl was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a critical condition. She died on Friday.

The driver was also airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision and said a report would be prepared for the coroner.

Only three days into March, Victoria’s death toll for the month has risen to four.

Police confirmed on Friday that a 39-year-old Croydon man died in hospital following an e-scooter crash in Ringwood last month.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a crash involving an e-scooter on Hobart Street, Ringwood, about 7am on February 2.

The exact circumstances of the accident are currently unknown.

The rider was treated at the scene by paramedics, and was later taken to hospital in a critical condition. Police said on Friday the man died in hospital on Thursday.

Victoria’s first two road-related deaths for March were also recorded on Thursday as a result of two separate incidents.

An 82-year-old man died after being hit by a car at Brunswick West.

The Brunswick West man was crossing the road at the intersection of Hope Street and Melville roads about 9.45am on Wednesday when he was hit by a Ford Ranger.

He was taken to hospital, but died on Thursday morning.

Also on Thursday, a female passenger died in a crash at Point Cook.

Officers said they were alerted to a vehicle driving erratically on Princes Freeway about 1pm, but it sped away as they attempted to intercept it.

Police said the intercept was called off when officers lost sight of the car, and it crashed into a barrier on Forsyth Road shortly afterwards.

A female passenger died at the scene. The driver, a 35-year-old Wyndham Vale man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is under police guard.
