UK weather: Brits to soak up 20C sun today – but it won't last for coronation Bank Holiday weekend | The Sun

BRITS are set to enjoy 20C sunny weather today, but it won't stay for the coronation Bank Holiday weekend.

Those in the southern parts of the UK will enjoy pleasant temperatures, according to the latest Met Office forecast.

Maidstone in Kent will see highs of up to 20C at around 4pm today with 19C weather also expected in the Midlands.

It will contrast to the north of England and Scotland, with Aberdeen struggling to reach double figures and the north east hitting highs of 13C.

The Met Office said: "Most areas will be cloudy through the day, and it is most likely to stay dry through the day in the north and east.

"Temperatures will be capped at 16°C for many under the cloud, though in any sunny spells in the south it could reach 20°C."

Unfortunately for Brits, the pleasant conditions are not set to last very long.

The Met Office said that Brits should expect the bank holiday coronation weekend to have "unsettled" weather.

Rainfall is predicted for Friday and Saturday in what could be another wet day, say forecasters.

Heading into Friday morning, much of the UK is set for a cloudy start with spells of rain.

Northern England and southern Scotland will endure persistent rain while further south, showery spells could turn to spots of hail and thunder.

However temperatures could be pleasant with highs of 19C once again possible in the south of England.

Some heavy, thundery downpours are expected for the coronation weekend, according to the Met Office.

Met Office forecaster Steven Keates said: "On Saturday we will see showers developing from late morning in some central, eastern and northern areas, but also with some sunny spells through the day.

"At this stage it looks like London could avoid the showers in the morning before some develop through the afternoon.

"Heavier rain is expected to move into the southwest of the UK and heavy showers are likely for parts of Northern Ireland.

"Winds will remain light away from the far north where gusty winds will begin to ease."

The outlook for Bank Holiday Monday remains uncertain, but is likely to be unsettled before the new week brings more pleasant weather.
