A would-be Los Angeles robbery victim turned the tables — and a gun — on his assailants, shooting the two bumbling thieves and sending them scrambling for their lives, new surveillance video released by the LAPD shows.
The scene unfolded shortly after 7 p.m. Monday in the Fairfax neighborhood when a silver sedan pulls up to a man and two women who are seen chatting in a parking lot.
“Two suspects exited from an idling Dodge Avenger near Melrose Avenue and Vista Street and confronted the victim with handgun in hand,” the LAPD said in a press release.
“Words were apparently exchanged and the victim ultimately produces a handgun, apparently to defend himself and others in his group from the would-be robbery suspects,” the release said.
The footage shows the intended victim drawing his gun first and firing off at least three shots, sending the wannabe crooks running for cover — and the Dodge peeling off.
Police said they later arrested the two would-be robbers, identified as Nicholas Brown, 22, and Markeil Hayes, 28, both from Los Angeles.
Both men were shot in the legs and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
Police are still looking for the driver of the Dodge, who fled and has not been identified.
It is not clear if police questioned the gun-toting vigilante or his companions.
