Tories have warned Labour ‘cannot be trusted with taxpayers’ cash’ after the Welsh Government said public services would have to be cut as part of efforts to save money.

First Minister Mark Drakeford has ordered his government to find savings in their departments midway through the financial year after being left with a £900million hole in a £20billion budget.

It appears that no area of spending, including devolved matters such as health and education, will be protected from the axe.

Tory Party chairman Greg Hands said: ‘Labour simply cannot be trusted with taxpayers’ cash.

‘With their constant mismanagement, leaving a near £1billion hole in the Welsh public purse, it is a stark reminder of how they left Downing Street in 2010 with no money left.
