Here, we look at the places he has lived, and what properties he owns.

Where does King Charles live?

King Charles has lived with his wife Camilla, the Queen consort since 2003.

Since 2003, Charles has lived at Clarence House, his official London residence mainly used for working engagements.

He also owns Highgrove house, which the married couple use as their country retreat.

King Charles lived in Kensington Palace while married to the late Princess Diana.

Will King Charles live in Buckingham Palace?

King Charles was formally proclaimed monarch at a historic Accession Council meeting at St James's Palace on Saturday, September 10, 2022.

His coronation is set to take place at Buckingham Palace on May 6, 2023.

It will be the first coronation of a monarch in the UK since his mother Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.

It is thought that Charles could make the palace his London residence in 2027, when a refurbishment worth £369million is finished.

Which other properties does King Charles own?

The King has homes in England, Scotland and Wales.

King Charles also holds his private residence in Scotland – Birkhall – on the Balmoral estate, in Aberdeenshire.

Llwynywermod, in the village of Myddfai in Carmarthenshire, is the Royal Highnesses' Welsh home.

King Charles will now also inherit Sandringham in Norfolk, which is privately owned by the Royal Family.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: "Everybody recognises it makes no sense to run so many residences but if you give them up entirely you will never get them back when Prince George and the younger royals grow up and need somewhere to live."
