Who was Today show producer Ric Romo?

For over 30 years, Ric Romo was a west coast news producer on the TODAY show.

He joined the NBC family back in 1979 and has been there ever since.

Throughout his time with NBC, Ric covered stories from the O.J. Simpson trial back in 1995, to red carpet events, and West Coast earthquakes.

His work on the red carpet also led him to have some famous friends including the late Hollywood great Fred Astaire, who was an actor and dancer.

When did Ric Romo pass away?

The TODAY show revealed on Monday, June 28, 2021 that Ric had passed away over the weekend at the age of 62.

“He was a great storyteller; he was incredibly funny. Ric knew everybody on the NBC lot — they knew him — he knew the security guards and all the way up to Johnny Carson himself. He brought a smile to everybody’s face, literally just when Ric walked in the door," Carson Daly said on TODAY.

The cause of his death has yet to be revealed.

“He just had this infectious smile and this wonderful, wonderful attitude,” Al Roker said.

Was Ric Romo married?

According to TODAY, Ric was married to his wife Carol for over 40 years.

The morning show said that Ric is survived by his wife and his siblings, Jim, Dan, and Diana.

There is no information on if the family had any children or not.
