Woman, 36, charged with murder after schoolboy, 17, knifed to death and filmed 'in jest' as he bled out

A WOMAN has been charged with murder after a schoolboy was knifed to death and filmed "in jest" as he bled out on the street.

Nichola Leighton, 36, has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of Levi Ernest-Morrison, 17, in Sydenham, south east London.

The twisted killers filmed the defenceless 17-year-old after the brutal knife attack as he lay dying in the street, those close to the victim have claimed.

Levi's friends and relatives have said his callous murderers filmed him “in jest” after fatally stabbing him.

The 36-year-old was arrested on April 11, and will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today charged with murder.

The Met Police said today: "Nichola Leighton, 36 (05.01.85) of Lockwood Close, Sydenham will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 14 April charged with murder.

"Homicide detectives from Specialist Crime continue to investigate after Levi was attacked in Sydenham Road, SE26 on Saturday, 10 April.

"Enquiries into the circumstances continue including to identify any other people involved."

MURDER CHARGE

Levi was walking home with friends when he was attacked just two minutes away from his house.

And his family have been left devastated that the cold-blooded killers filmed Levi as he was dying.

A GoFundMe page – set up to pay for Levi’s funeral – explained Levi’s terrifying last moments alive.

It says: “Levi was an intelligent and loving boy.

“He was a beautiful son, a playful brother, a loving grandson, godson and nephew, a devoted boyfriend and a loyal friend.

“But on Saturday around 8pm, he was a defenceless young boy, out with some friends only two minutes from home who was chased by some local boys and stabbed to death.

“Popular culture glorifies and glamourises the violence and hardship that faces young men living in cities everyday.

“But what most don’t know is that when these young people die they do so in pain and alone.

“Gasping on the pavement. Clutching for their phone. Praying someone will find them, help them, heal them.

“When they took Levi’s life they actually recorded him after in jest … we can’t believe it.

“And yet it happens everyday to so many families. So many lives lost.”

The fundraiser – which will donate 20 per cent to the charity Lives Not Knives – has already raised more than £6,000.

KNIFE ATTACK

It is being organised by someone known as J F, who said: “Words cannot describe how much Levi is loved and how much he is missed.”

Scotland Yard’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation into the fatal stabbing in Sydenham, South East London, at around 7pm on Saturday evening.

Detectives are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area on Saturday evening to come forward and speak with us.

“One piece of information, no matter how small, could prove vital in us being able to provide Levi’s family with the answers they need.”

Police were called at 7.19pm to reports of a stabbing near the junction of Hazel Grove and Sydenham Road.

Officers and paramedics attended and found Levi with a stab injury.

Despite their best efforts he was pronounced dead shortly after 8pm.

A post-mortem examination held on Monday gave Levi's preliminary cause of death as a stab wound leading to a catastrophic bleed.
