Woman goes to court to change baby grandson’s terrifying name after dad killed his mum in horror axe attack

A WOMAN has gone to court to change her baby grandson's terrifying name after his dad murdered his mother in a horror axe attack.

Little Lucifer's unnamed nan filed for a name change back in June 2021.


Lucifer, who was born in March, 2021, is believed to be the last known person in Brazil to be given the terrifying name.

The 10-month-old tot is now in the care of grandmother after his dad slayed his mum and maternal granddad in a horrific axe attack at the family home in May, 2021, when Lucifer was just two months old.

The dad was found dead months later.

Officials in Nova Olinda in north-eastern Brazil are understood to have already made a decision on the name changee.

Lucifer is a boy's name and means "light bearer" in Latin but in Christian tradition it's associated with the Devil.

It is the name of the archangel cast into Hell, with theologians disagreeing on whether he and Satan are separate beings.

The name is banned in New Zealand.

Brazil is the country with the second-largest number of Christians in the world, after the USA.

The Nova Olinda Child Services say their counsellors have been accompanying the youngster and his brothers since the day of the crime, which shocked local residents.

According to official data, two others in Brazil, both from the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, were named Lucifer in the period 2016 to 2021.

Little Lucifer's new name has not been reported so as to protect his privacy.
