A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in a block of flats.
Cops were called to the block in Southampton just after 6.30am today and set up a large cordon and forensics tent, with seven police cars attending.
A man, 52, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the woman, also in her fifties. He remains in custody.
Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at 6.36am this morningfollowing the death of a woman in International Way, Southampton.
"Police remain on scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the death.
"A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time.

"We encourage anyone with information to please not speculate on the circumstances online, and to provide all information to police in the first instance."
The deceased woman in her 50s and the 52 year old man who was arrested on suspicion of her murder are both from Southampton, police said.

One resident at the block of flats in Southampton, Hants, said he heard a 'loud banging'.
He said: "I just had a feeling that something dodgy and bad had happened.
"I can’t believe what happened. It’s just horrible.
"Lots of people have their kids around here, and I myself moved into the building only three months ago."
A mum-of-two said: “It’s so sad to be woken up to something like this.
“I don’t know what happened to her, but I hope her family are doing okay.
“It’s such a day for our community.”
Another local said it was 'sad and shocking'.
