Georges St-Pierre Shows Off His Core Strength With a 10-Second Handstand

Retired UFC champion Georges St-Pierre makes a habit of issuing simple fitness challenges to his 3.3 million Instagram followers every week. Simple, however, doesn’t always mean easy to perform, as evidenced by this week’s core-challenging maneuver, which involves doing a 10-second unassisted handstand.

In the clip, a shirtless St-Pierre performs the move with ease, displaying impressive balance while executing the move in his driveway and showing off his six-pack abs. “Challenge of the week! Film yourself (side view) while doing this 10-second handstand,” St-Pierre wrote in the post’s caption, offering to repost the reader-submitted video with the best form.

While few of St-Pierre’s followers seemed eager to take the MMA legend up on the offer, they were quick to compliment the 39-year-old martial artist for staying in such good shape during his retirement from pro fighting. “This dude always looks like he’s gonna fight either a UFC fighter or a superhero,” one wrote.

St-Pierre, of course, is fresh off playing the role of Georges Batroc, aka Batroc the Leaper, in the Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Rumors also continue to circulate that St-Pierre is not-so-quietly training for a comeback “super fight” against fellow retired legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.

While both fighters have denied a fight is in the works, they also haven’t exactly shied away from feeding the rumor mill. Just last week, St-Pierre broke down the strategy he says he “would have” used to defeat Nurmagomedov in a fight. “I would not have been afraid of his wrestling. I would have instigated. I would have forced the fight forward,” he said.

“And that’s how I would have approached that fight, which I believe most of his opponents were afraid of his wrestling because they didn’t have the tools that I have to put him down,” he added.

Should the bout finally happen, at least one thing is certain: St-Pierre will be in fighting shape.
