I Got a "Liquid Nose Job" — Here's Everything You Need to Know

I haven’t been overly conscious of my nose shape, but there have been plenty of times where I’ve seen my side profile in a selfie and daydreamed about getting rid of the bump. After researching what goes into a rhinoplasty procedure, I decided I didn’t want to go through with a permanent surgery, especially since I am getting married in a year. However, thanks to TikTok, I came across a non-invasive treatment called the “liquid nose job” using hyaluronic acid fillers that piqued my interest. A nose job without the knife and no recovery downtime? Count me in.

Living in New York, there are countless places to get cosmetic work done. I have been following BeautyFix MedSpa on Instagram for a while now, and the practice — with three locations in New York: Upper East Side, Flatiron District, and Westchester — coincidentally offers “simple, safe, nonsurgical treatments to help rejuvenate your natural beauty, with no downtime,” according to the website.

From start to finish, the procedure took around 10 minutes and was not painful (even despite being my first time getting filler). I’ve had Botox before, and this had a similar pinch-feeling to that, but nothing major. Plus, the doctor numbed my nose before, which definitely helped. The best part of it all? The results were immediate and I had a new side profile within minutes by subtly straightening the bridge and lifting the tip.

While I’m all for embracing natural beauty, this treatment was completely worth it for me and I am obsessed with the outcome. It brings out my other features and gave me the softer, more symmetrical profile that I was hoping for. If you’re considering getting the “liquid nose job” yourself (or are just curious about the process), I spoke with BeautyFix MedSpa’s board-certified plastic surgeon and medical director, Steve Fallek, MD, about everything you need to know about nose fillers.

What Is Liquid Rhinoplasty?

Nose filler, or the “liquid rhinoplasty,” is a quick, easy, and convenient way to improve the overall shape and appearance of the nose without surgery. “It’s a non-invasive alternative to plastic surgery, utilizing fillers to reshape your nose and make it look straighter and more symmetrical in minutes,” said Dr. Fallek. To get rid of the bump appearance, your doctor will inject the filler into the area around your nose, the tip to give a lifted effect, and (if requested) the bridge of your nose itself. For someone who wants to achieve a well-balanced profile look without waiting months to get into your doctor’s office or going through a lengthy healing process, the liquid nose job is a great option that takes around 10 to 15 minutes.

Are Nose Filler Injections Painful?

Pain is relative depending on the person, but for me, this procedure wasn’t painful. This was thanks to the numbing cream. “A topical anesthetic is applied to the nose and the surrounding area so the patient won’t feel pain from the needle,” said Dr. Fallek. “After the anesthetic takes effect, the doctor will inject the filler into the area around your nose and possibly the bridge of your nose itself — each patient’s treatment is unique to the structure of their nose.”

How Long Do Nose Fillers Last?

Results can last between nine months and two years, depending on the type of filler that is used during the patient’s treatment. For example, Dr. Fallek determined the amount of hyaluronic acid-based filler to use during the non-surgical rhinoplasty to be sure I would have the greatest results. It’s typical to visit the doctor two weeks after your initial treatment to either add more filler or confirm whether the amount used is the best for long-lasting results.

How Much Does Liquid Rhinoplasty Cost?

Depending on what state you live in, and where you go to get the procedure, the prices for nose filler can vary. For example, in New York or California, nose injections typically range from $800 to $2,000, but if you’re anywhere else in the country it likely won’t go over $1,000. At BeautyFix Medspa, the Rhino Fillers start around $1,500; they also offer patients flexible spending options to pay it off over time.

Can Nose Filler Be Removed?

In short: yes. “Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Juvéderm products — including Voluma and Volbella — Restylane products, and Belotero can be partially or completely removed with an enzyme called hyaluronidase,” said Dr. Fallek.

How to Find the Right Doctor

Always make sure to do your research and ask to book an in-person consultation before committing to your decision. Most dermatologist offices across the country can perform this procedure, but be sure to look into the MD’s work to ensure they have a similar aesthetic to what you’re looking for. If you know someone who has lip injections you admire, consider asking them for a recommendation. If you choose to go to a clinic or medispa, just be sure that whoever you see is a licensed or board-certified medical professional.

How Should I Prepare For My Nose Filler Appointment?

There is essentially no preparation needed for this treatment. Since every person can respond differently to any type of treatment, for best results and to reduce the risk of complications, most doctors will recommended that you discontinue use of aspirin, omega-3 fatty acids, ibuprofen, and other potential blood thinners three to seven days before treatment.

What to Expect Post-Treatment

After liquid rhinoplasty, you may experience slight pain, swelling, and redness where your injection was inserted. Within a few hours, the injection should start to settle. Once the redness starts to subside, you’ll be able to better see your desired results.
