Lockdown led many of us to tackle at-home haircuts and while salons have reopened, you might still try it yourself if you’re short on time or don’t fancy paying just for a quick trim.

But a DIY cut can be tricky – and one of the biggest problems is getting it straight.

So when one woman felt like she needed just a little bit off the bottom of her long locks and asked her husband to help, he came up with a plan to make sure he nailed it on the first attempt.

Heading to his tool box, he found his spirit level and used it to measure up before even touching it with the scissors.

Posting on TikTok, @RamboAve said she asked her ‘handyman husband’ to cut her hair.

The clip shows them discussing roughly how much she wants him to take off before he picks up the tool usually kept for putting up shelves.

As he places it against her back, she says: ‘Is that a f***ing level?’

Once he ensures he’s going to cut a straight line, he grabs the scissors and takes off the ends, with impressive results.

His wife commented he’d ‘nailed it’ and viewers agreed, despite initially being skeptical about his unusual method.

One said: ‘Coming from a hairdresser… he did a pretty damn good job.’

Another added: ‘My husband dyes my hair. Now I want him to do this. He did a good job.’

Someone else wrote: ‘I love that he brought out the level and triple checked. Measure thrice, cut once.’
