From glazed doughnut to ‘Vanilla French’ manicures, nail styles have been subtle yet effective recently.
So it makes sense that the latest take on the classic French manicure also reflects this trend.
Rather than vibrant manicured tips (although we do still love matcha nails), the ‘French Fade’ is the latest look that’s gaining attention – and it’s all about flawless minimalism.
While the classic French manicure features a painted nail tip (usually white) with a defined separation from the rest of your nail colour (usually natural or nude), this style sees the colour gradually fade down into a neutral base as it gets closer to your cuticle.

So rather than having a clear line defining the white tip, it’s more of an ombre effect.
And it’s a style that’s becoming more and more popular for summer. In fact, #frenchfade currently boasts nearly 80,000 posts on Instagram and counting.
This 2023 take on the French mani very much plays into both the growing ‘your nails but better’ and ‘quiet luxury’ trends – as it’s simple yet elevated.
