These $20-and-Under Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid Serums Are Taking Years Off Reviewers' Faces

There are so many beneficial skincare ingredients, but two hugely popular ones are none other than vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. The former for its hyperpigmentation reducing, collagen promoting benefits, and the latter for its ultra-hydrating and anti-aging properties. To harness the benefits of both ingredients, I personally have relied on layering products, but it turns out, there is a world of vitamin C and hyaluronic acid hybrid serums out there — and they're dermatologist approved.

The 2-in-1 serums are not only safe and efficient, but the two ingredients also play well together, according to New York City-based dermatologist Rachel Nazarian. "Vitamin C can occasionally be irritating for some skin types, [while] hyaluronic acid is typically universally tolerated well," she tells InStyle. When the two are in one product "it allows you to have a regimen that targets uneven skin tones, pigment, free radical damage, and hydration," but without the potential vitamin C downsides.

According to Dr. Nazarian, both are vital ingredients for healthy skin. "Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant that can improve the complexion and hyperpigmentation," she explains. "It's also an incredible and important ingredient for keeping a strong healthy skin barrier, being one of the fundamental ingredients necessary for healthy collagen." (Read: anti-aging benefits).

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body. But the amount produced by your body diminishes with age, according to the derm. Incorporating the ingredient into your skincare routine helps your skin draw and retain moisture, which allows the skin to look plumper (aka diminished fine lines) and therefore more youthful.

Each of the five serums below harness the benefits of both ingredients, and happen to individually have over 10,000 five-star ratings on Amazon.
