Alison Hammond vows she will always win after blackmail hell

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond shared a defiant message on Instagram after allegedly being blackmailed by someone she had considered a friend.

Alison hit headlines for unexpected reasons over the weekend when it was claimed that a blackmailer vowed to "end her career" by planning to sell fake stories on her.

The unidentified man allegedly threatened to "ruin" Birmingham-born presenter Alison, 48, after she’d already purchased a BMW car worth an estimated £5,000 for him.

While Alison is yet to directly address the reports, she has uploaded a cryptic video which could well be a hint at how she's feeling.

In the video, Alison smiles as a voiceover says: “You want to know the four main reasons why will always win?

“I don’t hate on nobody, I pray, I stay in my own lane and lastly, I’m not competing with nobody except for myself.”

Alison captioned the video with a pink heart. Fans and friends alike showed their support for the TV presenter, with Great British Bake Off star George Aristidou writing: “This is why we love Alison."

A fan added: "Strong woman. You look amazing. So glad your nightmare is over."

The Sun previously reported that Alison was ordered to hand over thousands of pounds or he would spread lies about her in the hope of ending her career.

It was claimed that the presenter had “trusted” the man before she handed over thousands. The 48 year old even offered to pay for the man to attend rehab and receive treatment for a drug problem.

Alison said to a friend: “I trusted this guy who, it turns out, was only interested in my money.

"I thought he valued our friendship. I now know he only wanted me to fund his life of luxury.”

The man, aged 36, spent 24 hours in custody after he was arrested by West Midlands police on Saturday 25 March.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police previously confirmed that an investigation had been carried out, and that a man had been arrested on suspicion of blackmailing Alison.

They said: "A 36-year-old man has been arrested from an address in Warwickshire this evening on suspicion of blackmail against a woman in her 40s. He remains in custody for questioning”.

Although Alison has had a difficult few months, she has Great British Bake Off to look forward to as she confirmed earlier this month that she will be presenting the series alongside comedian Noel Fielding.
