Bob Dylan has been sued by the wife of collaborator Jacques Levy after the sale of the legend’s catalog to Universal Music.
In December 2020, Dylan sold the music publishing rights of his entire songwriting catalog to Universal Music Publishing, a deal reportedly valued at more than $300 million.
However, according to court documents obtained by the New York Post, Levy’s wife Claudia has filed a lawsuit seeking $7.25 million as she alleges that Levy’s Estate was not compensated for their songwriting contribution to Dylan’s catalog.
The lawsuit claims that Dylan’s team owes Levy’s family 35% of income earned from the songs Levy co-wrote.
Levy co-wrote songs for Dylan’s 1976 album Desire, including “Hurricane” and “Isis.”
