Comedy star Miranda takes Patti the poochon for walkies

Healing Miranda’s doggie heartbreak: Comedy star takes Patti the poochon for walkies… after telling of her ‘excruciating sadness’ over death of beloved pet

The ‘excruciating sadness’ of losing her beloved dog Peggy a year ago hit her so hard that she took time off to mourn.

Now Miranda Hart is bouncing back with the help of a new canine friend described by fans as her ‘healing dog’.

The 49-year-old comedian and actress was pictured walking her poochon Patti in London, smiling as the tiny dog jumped up to greet a passer-by.

Adorable: Miss Hart has been sharing photos of the playful pup with her Instagram followers since December

The 6ft 1in BBC star was dressed casually in green tracksuit trousers, a Barbour jacket and Ugg boots as Patti trotted alongside her on a blue lead last week.

Miss Hart has been sharing photos of the playful pup with her Instagram followers since December.

‘Introducing Dame Patience Pattercake Hart the Poochon of Portsmouth (full Crufts name) aka Patti,’ she wrote.

She also shared a video of Patti cheekily grabbing a box of matches.

‘I gave you quite a few toys and bought you some nice things,’ Miss Hart says in the clip.

‘You’ve chosen to take a box of matches off a shelf… so well, you’re cheap I suppose… but also rude.’

Sadness: It comes after the Call The Midwife actress lost her beloved dog Peggy (pictured) a shih tzu-bichon frise cross, who she credited her with helping her through tough times

Poochons – a cross between a toy poodle and bichon frise – grow no taller than 15in, have a ‘loyal, affectionate nature’ and can live for up to 15 years.

The Call The Midwife actress had looked after Peggy, a shih tzu-bichon frise cross, since 2007 and credited her with helping her through tough moments in her life.

She announced the death of her ‘loyal, loving best friend’ on Instagram on January 17 last year, saying she was taking a break from work and social media.

Encouraging fans to appreciate their pets, she said their ‘unconditional loving presence is such an incredible gift’.

Miss Hart’s dog, which she described as her ‘absolute rock’, was the inspiration for her 2016 memoir Peggy And Me.
